Everyday Materials – Stunning Installations, Workshop by Barbara Pfyffer at D-CAF (postponed)

Egypt

March 26, 2020 till March 29, 2020

Workshop Dates

From 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm

How can one create great spaces and costumes and be sustainable at the same time? Or combine Egypt’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary approaches of design?

This workshop will explore how to use common and traditional materials in unexpected ways, building bridges from the past to the future. Cairo is a living museum of art and design with thousands of years of human ingenuity on display. Buying materials from local markets will draw participants into this hive of creativity and innovation. Participant’s individual projects will culminate in one big installation, which will include stage lighting. The sessions will be structured around collaborative work, knowledge exchange and discussions about the creative process. Applying contemporary styles in art and design, the group will develop a professional approach and create a personal network for future projects.
