EINZ troupe, Esther and Jonas Slanzi, will be performing at Backstreet Festival’s 4th edition, in Alexandria with their show “Nischenprojekt”. While in Cairo they will give a workshop at Al Darb Al Ahmar Art School to students that will be followed by a performance at El-Geneina Theatre new space in Cairo.

“Nischenprojekt” is a play about constraints of freedom in which two determined and impulsive characters are searching for the sense of balance and stability. Nischenprojekt is an artistically spectacular performance that carries the audience to a bizarre world between bottles, a rope, and a table. Esther and Jonas take the public on a graceful and thrilling tour in the rollercoaster of emotions with unusual outcomes. The two artists offer a lot of entertainment and stunning acting that makes the performance an unforgettable experience of contemporary circus.

EINZ troupe was founded in 2011, by the two Swiss artists Esther & Jonas. After years of touring and performing in cabarets, circuses, theatres and vaudevilles, the company’s name is now well established in Europe. Both artists have been working professionally with different companies, However, their passion is to reach and exceed the limits of circus and performing arts, while the main company mission and objective is to wow the audience through manipulating ordinary objects within the circus capacity. The company performers are constantly working on improving their routines and have a reputation of projecting humorous moments while telling their bizarre stories. This will be the troupe’s first performance in Egypt.

The 4th edition of the Backstreet festival is taking place in Alexandria from March 29 to April 4, 2017, creating non-traditional artistic ambiance and providing a space for freedom of expression, including international performances, training, film screenings and dialogue programs. The major objective of this edition is to contribute to positive change through delivering an atmosphere of artistic creativity filled with Joy, encouraging people to hope for a better future.
