Swiss artist Celine Burnard is participating at the exhibition “The Violent Silence of a New Beginning” with her performance “I love Egypt; Egypt loves me”, which will take place in Beit El Sinnary, on February 18, 2017.
The performance is based on an ongoing research about the Refai (Group of people living in upper Egypt who work on hunting snakes and extracting their venom, also one of the Egyptian Sufi sect), will consist of the artist accompanied with snakes (nonvenomous) in the same space, and a video projection of her record with the Refai.
The Violent Silence of a New Beginning is an exhibition curated by Studio Khana for Contemporary Arts. The exhibition is considered as a multi-cultural visual experience where artists work on reproducing a collection of art works from the sixties until now, deconstructing the cognitive contexts and trying to recreate them, aiming for a clear perspective on the historical context, using it to analyze and comprehend our own reality.
