The renowned contemporary performance “Disabled Theater” will be premiered in the Arab World at D-CAF’s 2017 edition in Cairo. The performance will be presented by Swiss Grand Award for Theatre / Hans Reinhart Ring 2016 winning troupe “Theater HORA”, the oldest professional theater company in Switzerland where all its cast members are differently abled.

“Theater HORA” will also be delivering its comprehensive workshop “Into the Wild” directed to the local trainees with disabilities and their trainers. Aiming to broaden the prospects of artistic work for persons with mental disabilities, with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Cairo.

Choreographed by Jérôme Bel, Theater Hora’s production of Disabled Theater sheds light on the usual act of diminishing those who are unable to creatively contribute to society.

Theater HORA was established in 1993 in Zürich (Switzerland) by the theatre-pedagogue Michael Elber. Its objective was and still is to promote the artistic development of people with learning difficulties and to give them the opportunity to exhibit their extraordinary abilities to a wide audience, at a professional level.

The “Disabled Theatre” performance will take place at Ewart Hall, The American University in Cairo, Falaki Campus, on March 21st and 22nd, at 8 PM. Tickets are available through E7gezly or D-CAF Box office located at the festival’s Hub.
