Wassili Widmer is visual artist based in Glasgow and St. Gallen. He explores the boundaries between virtuality and representation and their effects on social coexistence. A single person communicates with their environment primarily in form of feedback loops. The generation of symbols and images is an organic consequence of this. How and why are we performing with the images which are surround us? Playing with the triangular structure of human relationships, the associated creation of images and their subsequent transformation into a descriptive, alphabetical language is the core of Wassilis practice.
Wassili finished 2019 the MLitt in performance art at the Glasgow School of Art. He passed his bachelor at the Zurich University of the Arts and spent 2016 half a year at the School of Art Institute Chicago. He showed work at the 58th Biennale Venice, Manifesta 11, Suomi Art Fair and group shows in Switzerland and Chicago.
