Nicolas Vander is an experimental musician focused on building a narrative drive that aims to influence the deconstruction of the imaginaries associated with music. Exploring the classic boundaries of improvisation, the non-existent free jazz conception of freedom, the fusion of ethnic elements in the subconscious of tradition, and the last avant garde generation, reaching today’s most disruptive paths from where it takes a starting point to create immediate and alive music.
He has been part of a wide range of projects around the world. always following the spirit of experimentation and improvisation: Equinox Collective, Sound of Scape, Maldita Compañía, Free or Die, Krudo, and others. Currently immersed in The Kauak Project, modifications-transformations-mutations of sounds coming exclusively from the electric guitar.
Mainly self-taught, he also studied with Pascal Marechal, Corey Chriastensen, Zvonimir Tot, Alberto Merino, Walter Thompson and Ramses Luna.
Over the years he has produced several projects as curator, organiser or producer including in 2021 the Walk My Way series, a 50 experimental guitar players compilation from 32 countries of 6 continents released by 577 Records, New York.
