Engy Mohsen | Studio Residency
Switzerland | Architecture, Visual Arts
3 Months — Architecture, Visual Arts
Engy Mohsen is an architect and visual artist based in Cairo, born in 1995. While spatial design remains at the core of her practice, she also works with discursive acts, text, drawing, photography, performance and conversation as a medium. She explores the notions of ‘participation’ and ‘collectivity’ through designing and hosting formats of meetings that invite non-artists and artists to think about how spaces can be organized to include the ‘other’.
Engy has a joint bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the German University in Cairo and The Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, Germany in 2018. After that, she took part in Roznama 6 Studio Program, MASS Alexandria’s Independent Studio/Study Program and Artists for Artists (AfA) Masterclass.
She is currently working on her first published work, “Chatrooms: On Curating Spaces”. Her works have been exhibited in group shows in Abu Dhabi, Alexandria, Amman, Beirut, Berlin, Cairo, London, Ramallah, and Venice.
