Cléa Chopard (1989) lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland. She mostly works with text, writing poetry but also exploring it through performances, translations, videos, sound pieces or small editions. Her work deals with the representation of the female body, language, and the history of decoration. She uses material from different fields (cultural studies, medical and botanical books, poetry, translation studies, YouTube tutorials, feminist theory and so on) to explore the perceptions of women’s bodies today and how they relate to public or private space. Her most recent researches focus on one side on translation, and on the other side on how women who practice self-defense and martial arts relate to their bodies and to the public space.
