TRANSMITTING VOICES | First Release

We are very excited to announce the first release of TRANSMITTING VOICES, one of the selected projects for our Parallel Sphere grant, launched last June (2020).
In TRANSMITTING VOICES, Algerian and Swiss musicians jointly create new listening experiences from different voices and backgrounds for the next Polyfon Festival Basel. The first two tracks created in this project have been released on Bandcamp.
Polyfon Festival Basel stands for a surprising, cheerful line-up and an elaborate program raising awareness for ecology and diversity. For this year’s edition, the Festival invited the Basel-based artist Leila Moon and Réda Ehccker (El Moutanakil Projects) together with six other musicians (see details below) to collaboratively create new melodies and rhythms.
Within the restraints of 2020, the selected group of extraordinary musicians exchanged their approach to sound, persistently creating new music. The participants worked with electronic music, jazz as well as North-African music and composed two songs oscillating between popular music and soundscapes. The two first tracks of TRANSMITTING VOICES are now available on Bandcamp.
The release tour of Transmitting Voices will take place in various cities around Switzerland; Sion, Winterthur and Basel.
