Open Call: Studio Residency 2021

We are pleased to announce that the call for our Studio Residency 2021 is now open.

In order to enhance cultural exchange and artistic collaborations between Switzerland and the Arab Region, Pro Helvetia offers studio residencies to Swiss and Arab artists, culture practitioners and curators active in the areas of contemporary dance, performing arts, visual arts, literature and music, in the Arab Region and Switzerland.

Pro Helvetia Studio Residency is a platform that provides artists with the opportunity to gain a broad insight into a different cultural environment. In addition to:

  • Specific Coaching
  • Travel Costs
  • Insurance
  • Per diem

We work with a network of organizations that can host residencies in different cities in Switzerland and in the Arab region.

This year we made three new partnerships with B’sarya for Arts , Alexandria (EG), Tabadoul, Tangier (MAR) and Utopiana association,Geneva (CH). To check the full list of our residencies partners, click HERE

The Studio Residency is open for:

Arab artists, curators and cultural practitioners:

Pro Helvetia Cairo facilitates residencies in Switzerland for artists, curators and cultural practitioners from:
• Egypt
• Lebanon
• Morocco
• Tunisia

Swiss artists, curators and cultural practitioners to one of the following countries in the Arab region:

• Egypt
• Lebanon
• Morocco
• Tunisia

Selection criteria

  • Convincing track record: professional track record extending beyond local/regional level.
  • Clear, contextually relevant motivation.
  • Relevant and adequate language skills (English, French and/or German).

Deadline for application: March 1, 2020

Applicants may benefit three times in total from a Pro Helvetia studio residency.

Upcoming maintenance work

The application portal myprohelvetia will be updated from 1.1.-7.1.2024. Due to these changes, open applications must be finalized and submitted via the current online portal (myprohelvetia.ch) by the latest 23:59 on 31 December 2023. Until this date, the deadlines and criteria outlined in the current guidelines and calls for applications apply. New applications can be created and submitted in the application portal as of 8 January 2024.
