Vacancy: Program Manager

Pro Helvetia Cairo is seeking a Program Manager to join our team. The Program Manager will support the Head of Pro Helvetia Cairo in positioning the office as a networking unit between the Swiss and the Arab art and cultural scenes. She/he will manage and develop projects, process grant applications in addition to leading some general administrative and organizational/logistical tasks. A successful candidate has no less than 4 years of experience in cultural projects management in an organization in the Arab region.

Job Description
Program Manager, 80%, In charge of performing arts and literature
Plan and manage the performing arts program (That includes performance, dance, theatre, music theatre and multi-disciplinary projects):
  • Identify partners and possibilities of liaisons between the Swiss and the Arab scenes in relation to contexts.
  • Stimulate and maintain exchange and/or networks between the Swiss and Arab scenes.
  • Ability to consolidate projects into long-term programs.
  • Plan the following year’s program in accordance to Pro Helvetia’s timeline.
Plan and manage the literature program:
  • Identify partners and possibilities of liaisons between the Swiss and the Arab scenes in relation to contexts.
  • Stimulate and maintain exchange and/or networks between the Swiss and Arab scenes.
  • Ability to consolidate projects into long-term programs.
  • Plan the following year’s program in accordance to Pro Helvetia’s timeline.
Focus on the development of our programs in the region and assist the Head with the regional strategy:
  • Identify and initiate partnerships in the Arab region.
  • Develop together with the Head long-term strategy to build on and nourish these partnerships within a long-term vision.
In charge of the applications, administration and contracts of the projects she/he is managing:
  • Manage the projects details with the local, regional and international partners.
  • Draft and issue contracts with partners, artists, and collaborators.
  • Process grant applications.
  • Carry on administrative and logistical work related to projects.
  • Process the project’s financial plan.
In charge of managing the budget and reports of the performing arts and literature programs in cooperation with the Finance Officer:
  • Ensure that the program activities and expenditures are according to plan.
  • Follow up and evaluate projects ‘narrative and financial reports.
  • assist the Head with yearly/periodical planning and reporting.
Internal communication and logistics of the projects with other team members
  • Ensure that all team members have the necessary information on all projects.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Not less than four years of experience in cultural project management.
  • A very good knowledge of the cultural and art scenes in Egypt and in the Arab region.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Resident in Cairo and/or owns a work permit to work in Egypt in case of Non-Egyptians.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Background in performing arts is a must.
  • Ability to travel to Switzerland and to countries in the Arab region.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Not less than four years of experience of working with teams.
  • Holder of a bachelor degree.
  • Familiarity of the Swiss art scene is an asset.
  • French language is an asset.
